EDITOR'S NOTE

One of my close friends is getting married this weekend, so I made her a mini emergency kit (stored in an adorable fanny pack) as a way to help her feel prepared ahead of her big day. Some essentials I put inside:

This list only scratches the surface of what else is in there (like a mini deodorant, gum, pain relievers, hand sanitizer, etc.). But making this kit had me thinking about how nice it would be to keep one of these in my car.

On Our Radar

Dieux Baptism Cleanser

Dieux’s Baptism Gel Cleanser. The brand that makes every single skincare product we swear by finally has a standout cleanser in their lineup. Our editors got to try it ahead of today’s launch and we have thoughts before you buy.

It’s a gel cleanser that turns into a milky foam when mixed with water. You can pick from a fragrance-free version or one with light notes of citrus, pear, and amber. Our editors agreed that we’re obsessed with the texture and how it left our skin feeling plump and hydrated. That said, we feel that this works better as a second cleanse, after the bulk of your makeup is off. Bonus points for the aluminum packaging and travel-friendly pump.

Madewell Studded Belt

Madewell’s Studded Western Belt

A thin belt with dome studs and a statement buckle — that also happens to be an affordable riff on other designer versions.

If you’ve seen that Khaite belt that’s trending all over social media ahead of fall, but don’t want to (and frankly can’t) spend $580, do we have the dupe for you. Madewell has done it again — this time they’ve made a nearly identical version at a fraction of the cost. The only difference: Madewell’s version has shinier hardware, whereas Khaite’s is more matte. We personally don’t care and are planning to buy the less expensive version before it has a longer waitlist. PS: Customers say it runs slightly large, so size down.

Three Totally Random Things

Check out three totally random things we’re loving this week:

Reads

Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors

Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors

  • The story: Sisters Avery, Bonnie, and Lucky Blue are abruptly faced with their parent’s decision to sell their childhood home. The timing comes a year after their sister Nicky’s tragic death, and now they have to face their grief directly by cleaning out the family’s Upper West Side apartment, where Nicky lived in adulthood. Mellors is known for her debut Cleopatra and Frankenstein, but we preferred her latest release for its bingeable, alternating chapters and well-rounded perspective on grief, addiction, and complicated family dynamics. If you’re a Little Women loyalist or ate up Ann Napolitano’s Hello Beautiful, we think you’ll love this one.
