Smartest purchase you’ve made recently?
Danessa Myricks Balm Powder in “Rosé N Brunch.” I’m very obsessed — a cream blush is my constant go-to.
Self-care product you swear by?
I swear by Dr. Barbara Sturm's Hydrating Face Mist. I keep a bottle in my purse and spritz it on my face throughout the day to stay hydrated. It's such a simple but effective way to take care of myself, and it always makes me feel a little more calm and centered.
Best piece of advice for women entrepreneurs?
One of the best pieces of advice I have is to not be afraid to make mistakes. It’s a natural part of the learning process and it's important to view them as opportunities for growth and improvement.
Your favorite Black-owned retailers that should be on our radar?
54 Thrones and Danessa Myricks Beauty are some of my absolute favorites.
Designers and/or design houses that have inspired you?
There are too many to name. I've always been drawn to the timeless elegance of Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton, but lately I've also been really inspired by the bold, colorful designs of Christopher John Rogers.
What was always on your desk when you were writing your memoir?
Fresh flowers.
What did you read for inspiration before writing your book?
I really enjoyed Michelle Obama's "Becoming." It's such a powerful and moving memoir, and it resonated with me on a personal level.
What's a recent purchase you made that felt like an investment?
A high-quality set of cookware. I want to start spending more time in the kitchen, so I wanted to upgrade my pots and pans to something that would last me for years to come.
How much did you spend on it, and why do you consider it a worthy investment?
I spent around $1,000 on a Le Creuset set, which was definitely a bit of a splurge. But I consider it a worthy investment because I know it's something I'll use whenever I’m at home.
Your favorite surprisingly affordable accessory or clothing item?
The Brother Vellies Huaraches. They’re made from handwoven braided leather and are super well-made by artisans in Mexico.
Your latest favorite accessory from Brother Vellies?
Right now, it has to be the Sailboat Basket bag. It’s perfect for beach days, traveling, and trips to the market.
