We’ll admit it: One major perk of our job as editors is that we get to try out tons of products to let you know if they’re truly worth your hard-earned money. We’re also just avid shoppers, so in the spirit of tossing gatekeeping to the curb, we’re sharing a few standout favorites from the past month that we usually reserve for the group chat. Welcome to the inside scoop.
A bag even our moms can't resist...
I've been using this bag since the fall season started, and I've truly fallen in love with it. I got it in black, in the petite size. It's just big enough to hold my essentials, but not oversized and bulky on my shoulder. It's chic, and can easily go from errands to dinner with friends. The leather is so incredibly soft and luxe, it slouches in all the right places, and has just the right amount of pockets inside. My mom complimented me on it the first time she saw it and within a few days asked me to send her the link so she could order it for herself. It's the ideal fall bag. –Alexandra Napoli ($250, Leatherology)
Not your typical winter candle...
While I’m staunchly against Thanksgiving erasure, I do allow myself the small pleasure of packing away my pumpkin candles and bringing out my pine ones on November 1. It’s my favorite genre of candle, and I can never get enough of the Christmas tree goodness that fills my home when one is lit. This version from Vacation, my favorite sunscreen brand, hits different. It smells like hopping off the chair lift at a ski chalet in the Swiss Alps; it smells like the inside of the snow globe Charlie uses to call his dad home in The Santa Claus. You get the snowy picture. The secret is their blend of three pine scents to make it “the pinnacle of pine.” Plus, it comes in pretty green packaging, making it perfect for gifting. –Martha Upton ($36, Vacation) ($36, Amazon)
A pair of clogs we can get behind...
I had been thinking about buying Birkenstock Bostons for months. I couldn’t justify the price as I couldn’t find a color that I liked and the style felt too casual for my taste. So when I saw that Rothy’s was having a sale on their clogs a few weeks ago, I immediately bought a pair to try. These are some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn, and I can’t believe I went this long without them. I love how the style is more minimal compared to other clogs on the market. There’s something about the silhouette that allows me to wear them more dressed up, too. The best part? The footbed is ultra soft and supportive. ($159, Rothy’s)
The exfoliating serum that's like Botox in a bottle...
True story: I had dinner with a friend last week, and she asked if I’d gotten Botox because my skin looked so good. No needles, just this miraculous serum from Sofie Pavitt. The secret is mandelic acid, an ultra-gentle exfoliant that does all the good things about exfoliating — brightening, clearing, and tightening — with none of the irritation or redness. It’s so gentle that I use it every morning, per the advice of Dieux founder Charlotte Palermino (where I got the rec from). It has a lovely, soft texture — not watery or viscous like other serums — that also feels deeply hydrating. Thank you, Sofie Pavitt, for helping me stave off Botox for another couple of years. –Caroline Goldstein ($54, Sofie Pavitt)
A protein-packed snack that's delicious...
Ever since college, I’ve been a snacker through and through. Now that I’m older (and maybe just a little more health-conscious), I’m always on the hunt for snacks that taste amazing and don’t make me feel like I’ve just downed a bag of junk. So, when I was gifted a set of meat sticks from The New Primal, I had questions. Meat…on a stick? Spoiler alert: They’re not just good — they’re really good. Plus, they’re made without all the unnecessary additives you find in so many other snacks. –Sarai Thompson ($44.95, The New Primal)
The cutest handmade ornaments...
I was recently sent a few ornaments from Craftspring's Travel collection and, simply put, I'm obsessed. I never decorate early for the holidays, but I'm already counting down the days I can add my new felt taxi, Eiffel Tower, and black and white cookie ornaments to my tree. They also have your favorite foods, animals, and accessories (I'm so in love with the cowboy boots). If you're struggling to find last-minute gifts for white elephant, add these to cart immediately. –Alessandra Rey ($22+, Craftspring)
