Parting with your tried-and-true jeans isn’t always easy. But when Free People dropped details on their new Icons Collection, we knew it was time to clean out our closets and make room for new pairs. Each pair in this collection is trendy (but wearable), durable without being stiff, and versatile without being boring. Your old jeans could never.
The mid-rise jeans of your dreams…
This pair is classic, with a twist. It sits right below the waist and the frayed hem hits at the ankle. They’re great for tucking a blouse into, or pair well with a cropped tank and your favorite cardigan. The legs feature a utility-style seam that gives them a little extra something. ($98)
An editor’s new favorite pair…
One editor swapped her favorite flares for pull-on barrel jeans for the first time and was forever changed. (Psst…more on her experience here.) These mid-rise barrel jeans are the perfect hybrid between your favorite classic mid-rise jeans and the trendier, ultra wide-leg barrel styles. Even better? These jeans come in 18 colors. ($98)
Classic denim overalls…
Overalls can be tricky, so when we find a pair we really like, we refuse to gatekeep them. This one-piece features a classic design on the (well-pocketed) front, and a thick-strapped cross on the back that will show off any top underneath. They come in both regular and tall lengths, but in our opinion, they look even better cuffed. ($98)
A pair that was practically made for boots…
If you stepped proudly into your cowgirl era this year and added to your boot collection, meet your next favorite pair of jeans. Not only are we obsessed with the flattering flare cut, but we can’t stop thinking about the slit at the bottom that will show off your fall footwear. ($78)
The same boot-friendly pair, only patterned…
It gets even better. This pair comes in an eye-catching pink zebra print we couldn’t help but add to cart immediately. Add any neutral top — or printed, it’s your world — and pair of black or brown boots for a look that’ll have you scream-singing Chappell Roan. ($98)
A one-and-done outfit…
Aka, our favorite thing. This short-sleeve denim jumpsuit is a great option for when you don’t want to think about what to wear. It’s made with a durable, stretchy denim that keeps its shape but is comfortable enough to wear all day. We give it brownie points for the flattering seam detailing along the waist and easy zip closure. ($158)
A comfy, loose-fit jumpsuit…
If you're a fan of the one-look-wonder but want something a little more casual, meet this lightweight jumpsuit. It’s perfect for throwing on over a T-shirt for errands, but you could even dress it up with heels and a button-down. The two pockets on the side are roomy enough to forgo a purse (yes, really). ($98)
Not your mom’s bootcut jeans…
These bootcut pants are a modern take on a classic bootcut jean. They’re high-rise with four large pockets — two in front, two in back. But the cut makes them feel especially modern, since they’re straighter and looser than usual (which also makes them more comfortable than usual). If you want to lean into the nostalgia, pair them with a kitten-heel bootie. ($98)
A wide-leg pair that makes a statement…
These wide-leg jeans are currently in our carts for a few reasons. First, the high-rise fit creates that iconic ‘90s look. Second, they’re ultra-loose without gaping at the back. Third, they come in six versatile shades. Fourth — actually, we don’t need to explain how cute they are. The pic is worth a thousand words. ($128)
