Chances are that at some point during pregnancy, you’ll need to go shoe shopping. Maybe your feet are swollen, maybe you’ve actually grown a size—or maybe you just need some more support for long days on your feet. Here are 11 of our favorite shoes for any trimester, all of which will still be useful closet additions after the baby is born.

Looking for more affordable, stylish clothes? Here’s what to wear when working, traveling, playing, and expecting.

birkenstocks
Nordstrom

Some good old Birkenstocks for hot days…

Any slide-style sandal will give you a little extra room to begin with. But we like Birkenstocks in particular because of the adjustable straps and extra footbed support. A semi-neutral shade should serve you well for just about any casual occasion. ($134.95+, Nordstrom)

slides
Amazon

Padded slides for when your feet are super swollen…

It’s hard to beat the price point on these slides. They come in seven colors, like black, beige, and pink, and the adjustable straps, cushioned soles, and outer grip make them comfortable and stable, especially when your feet are too swollen to fit into regular shoes. ({{dynamicPrice}}, Amazon)

women's sneaker
Kizik

Normal-looking sneakers you can just step into…

These don’t really look like slip-ons, but they basically are—or more accurately, step-ins. The back of every Kizik sneaker automatically crunches down and then pops back up when you step into them, so there’s no need to bend over while super pregnant to tie your shoelaces (or take a minute to get your shoes on when your baby is screaming to be held). clogs
Dansko

Dansko clogs with lots of support…

Dansko’s “Professional” clog comes in 22 different variations—from a basic distressed honey shade to a lavender plaid print and a black version that’s shiny like an oil slick—but they all have excellent support. The brand in general is a favorite among nurses, chefs, and other people with physically demanding jobs. ($140, Dansko)

breathable clogs
Amazon

Breathable clogs to keep your feet from overheating…

While the leather Dansko clogs might be supportive and work-appropriate, they’re not as breathable as these mesh and leather clogs from Merrell. The grippy rubber outsole on these will also help you keep your balance. ({{dynamicPrice}}, Amazon)

flip-flops
FitFlop

Flip-flops that aren’t just flat pieces of foam…

Because your regular flip-flops might be convenient, but they’re not doing you any favors in the support department. If the weather is still warm and you’ll be walking around town and running errands, these waterproof, ergonomic sandals have the extra dash of support you need. They’re also perfect if your feet are super swollen late in pregnancy or after delivery. ($38, FitFlop)

allbirds sneakers
Allbirds

Breathable runners you can throw in the washing machine…

These cushioned eucalyptus fiber shoes come in 14 mainly neutral color combinations, and are great for weekend adventures or more casual workplaces. Your feet won’t overheat easily, and if they do get sweaty, you can just wash these shoes and let them air-dry. ($98, Allbirds)

slippers
Vionic

Adjustable slippers that actually have some support…

These fuzzy slippers will help keep your feet happy even when you’re just lounging around at home, thanks to their contoured arch and shock-absorbing midsole. Like the sandals below (also from Vionic), these have the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance. ($80, Vionic)

sandals
Vionic

Sandals that have good support, too…

These sandals are designed specifically to offer support…without looking like your great-grandma’s ergonomic shoes. Perfect for work or travel days when you want to look cute but still do a ton of walking, they have the same contoured arch and shock absorption as the Vionic slippers. ($110, Vionic)

hoka sneakers
Hoka

Trendy sneakers to support you on walks or runs…

You probably know this already, but you don’t have to be a runner or serious athlete to invest in some high-quality (and, yes, cute) sneakers. Hokas are everywhere, partly because of their distinctive look and eye-catching color options, but also because they’re supportive shoes that just make your feet feel good. These have the APMA Seal of Acceptance and are designed for running, but perfect for everyday walks, too. ($145, Hoka)

On sneakers
On

Light, no-slip sneakers that are easy to pack…

Another fan favorite, these On Cloud sneakers are great for traveling since they’re super light and have a fully collapsible upper. They’re essentially prelaced by design, so you can step right into them (without socks, if you prefer, since the footbed is antimicrobial), and the no-slip heel will keep you stable. ($150, On)
