What We Tested…
Glow Recipe’s Guava Vitamin C Bright-Eye Gel Cream, ($38)
Why Margo Tested...

Test Results…
Texture. I’ve tried eye creams before with a gel-cream texture and they haven’t been hydrating enough. This one feels rich when I apply it underneath my eyes and has a slight cooling sensation that’s soothing in the mornings.
Effectiveness. It’s packed with all the ingredients you would want on your undereye area, including vitamin C, niacinamide, and peptides for depuffing, brightening, and hydrating. Because it has a slight orange tint to it, it neutralizes the purple color in my inner corners. I found that after I let it sink in for about 10-15 minutes, I noticed a difference in how my eyes looked.
Packaging. This bottle is tiny and holds about 15 ml of product. When I first took it out of its box, I was jarred by the size, but I’ve come to love how small the bottle is for traveling.
Why Abby Tested...

Test Results…
Absorption. Abby said that with some eye creams, she really has to pat them in to get them to absorb. With the lightweight, yet nourishing nature of this gel cream, she found that it sank in quickly on its own and in turn, saved her time.
Lack of fragrance. When testing other more expensive vitamin C-based products, Abby noticed a strong fragrance that smelled a little weird. She loves how this product contains vitamin-C and doesn’t have a detectable fragrance.
Packaging. After multiple uses, sometimes the packaging of certain products can deteriorate. Abby loves that the pump of this eye cream is sturdy and deposits the perfect amount of product. Plus, because the packaging isn’t translucent, it protects the vitamin-C’s potency.
Sidenotes…
We both noted that a little product goes a long way, so it should last for at least six months. We each used a pea-sized amount per use over the course of the testing period. I tested for six weeks, while Abby tested over the course of six months.
Abby says that the cream depuffs and brightens upon first application, but she’s noticed a major improvement in the look of her undereyes when she consistently incorporates the product into her routine.
I know that my dark circles will never fully go away because they’re veins appearing under thin skin, but this eye cream helps to hydrate and neutralize the color.
Both myself and Abby feel that the product doesn’t sit well underneath makeup. It tends to pill and separate later in the day, depending on the makeup base we were using.
