We’ve done a lot of holiday shopping recently, and we're feeling holly jolly about it. In the (holiday) spirit of not gatekeeping, we’re sharing the gifts we’re giving this year and what we’d be delighted to receive. Trust us, you're going to knock it out of the gifting park this year. Don’t worry, we’ll be here next year, too.

Holiday Gifts We’re Giving
A necklace they'll never want to take off...
One of the gifts I'm giving to my mom this year is a pearl necklace from J.Crew. I was wearing one a few months ago and she commented on how pretty it is. I immediately made a mental note to get one for her. This one is delicate and can be layered with other necklaces, which is perfect for her. She wears jewelry 24/7, so I can totally see her keeping this one on all the time since it's so lightweight. –Alexandra Napoli ($38, J.Crew)
A logo hat with a cheeky message...
I’m obsessed with all things Favorite Daughter — seriously, their trousers are the best — including their logo baseball cap. I got it for myself as a little private joke, since I am the only daughter in my family. I’ve been wearing it nonstop, and the compliments have been rolling in. My cousin happens to be an only daughter as well (we both have brothers), so I’m letting her in on the joke for Christmas this year. –Martha Upton ($40, Revolve)
A no-brainer gift for a guy...
J.Crew is the spot I always hit when shopping for clothes for my dad, my brother, and my boyfriend. So...if you're one of those three, please look away. I saw this cozy, garment-dyed cotton henley and immediately liked it as an elevated yet casual look. I can attest that the fabric is super soft and feels worn in, and I love that my boyfriend can wear this with jeans or sweats. –Margo Ghertner ($49.99+, J.Crew)
A luxury candle for the trickiest ones on your list...
I love D.S. & Durga’s just-left-of-center fragrances, and since they tend to be pricey, I think they make great gifts for giving or getting. I was delighted to discover that the brand made a Hanukkah candle this year — a tough find in a market overrun with Christmas scents. This one takes inspiration from antiquity, with warm, smoky notes of cypress, desert juniper, saffron, and amber. This will go to my tough-to-buy-for dad and my luxury-loving mom. –Caroline Goldstein ($70, Revolve)
A never-ending tote we can't wait to give our best friend...
I’m gifting this Free People quilted bag to my friend because it’s the perfect catch-all. It reminds me of Mary Poppins’ bag that never gets full and can be used when heading to the office, going to the gym, or traveling. It comes in a bunch of different colors, so it can suit anyone’s aesthetic. It’s no surprise why it’s been a trending item this year. –Celia Skvaril ($68, Free People)
Holiday Gifts We Hope to Get
The cardigan we can't get enough of...
This sweater is beloved by our entire team here at theSkimm, and I would absolutely love to receive it this holiday season. It's one of those pricier pieces I've been keeping an eye on, and it feels like the perfect item to receive during the dead of winter. The winter white looks so luxe, and I've heard nothing but stellar reviews on it. It's on my list (and towards the top) so I've been manifesting that it winds up under the tree this year. –Alexandra Napoli ($298, Anthropologie)
The vest that made us actually want a vest...
I’m truly not a vest person, but I can’t help but notice that they’re everywhere right now. So when I tried this cropped version on in the store, I immediately fell in love. It’s not so puffy that I feel like the Michelin Man (respectfully), and I love that the hood is removable to make it even sleeker. It’d be just the thing to complete my Pilates outfits and keep me warm but not overheated while running errands. Santa, if you’re listening, I’m thinking the light pink. –Martha Upton ($228, Lululemon)
The only hair tool we want...
I've been itching to try Dyson's hair tools and while they're definitely an investment, I love the idea of the Airtstrait being both a blow dryer and a straightener in one. As someone who usually air dries their hair and uses minimal heat, I would love to incorporate this into my routine for easy styling...without the arm workout that usually comes with an at-home blowout. –Margo Ghertner ($499, Sephora)
A lamp to fuel our new home decor obsession...
My most recent oddly specific obsession: green glass task lamps. I’ve had this one bookmarked for months. I’m obsessed with the delicate brass detailing and beautiful pillbox-like shape; it looks like something you’d find on a flapper’s vanity, with a silk scarf tossed over it. But the retro design won’t look overly hokey or precious when mixed with some of my more modern pieces. –Caroline Goldstein ($198, Anthropologie)
An eyeshadow palette we'd love to play around with...
My friend has this eyeshadow palette and the glitter shades are incredible. It’s a little pricey to justify spending on an eyeshadow palette for myself, which is why it would make a great gift (hint, hint). Pat McGrath makes incredible shadows, so I know I’ll be using it constantly and would be super fun for holiday looks. –Celia Skvaril ($128, Sephora)
